Charlie Morton Strikes Out Eight Against His Former Team
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Charlie Morton earned the win against a familiar Houston Astros lineup on Friday. He struck out eight, walked two and scattered three hits over five innings against his former squad. Morton will try to follow up his career year in 2018 to help the Rays compete in the high-powered American League East. Even if we bake in some regression to his 3.13 ERA and 28.9 percent strikeout rate from 2018, he is still a rock-solid starter in all formats. Next up, he’ll face another high-powered offense in the Colorado Rockies next Wednesday in Tampa Bay. This performance should give fantasy owners confidence to start Morton even against tougher lineups.
