Charlie Morton Takes 6.00 June ERA Into Wednesday's Start
7 years agoHouston Astros starter Charlie Morton will try and get back on track Wednesday when he takes the mound against the Rays. Morton (8-1) got off to a fantastic start this season but has struggled over his past few starts and has allowed 10 runs over his last 15 innings. Walks have been an issue recently and Morton has issued 11 free passes over that 15-inning span. All of those issues aside, the veteran is still having an All-Star season. He currently is averaging a career-high 11.4 strikeouts per nine innings, a 2.94 ERA and a sparkling 1.14 WHIP. In eight starts this season at Minute Maid Park, Morton is 5-1 with a 2.76 ERA and should have success against a talent-deficient Rays lineup Wednesday night.
