Chase Elliott Begins Fifth At Vegas
3 years agoChase Elliott and Hendrick Motorsports like to live dangerously. This time, it was costly. Though Elliott will start fifth on Sunday at Las Vegas, two failed inspections will mean his crew chief and pit selection preference are gone. That may not seemingly mean too much, but then again it might. The No. 9 car has had a bit of an adventure in the early going. He was near the from at the Daytona 500 and fell to tenth. Then, Elliott was blocked by Kyle Larson. Larson went on to win last week while Elliott's chances were dashed. Also, Elliott does have three top-tens and a driver rating of 107.2 since 2019 at the track. Watch for him late.
