4 years agoChase Elliott placed second and nearly won Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte before his teammate spun out with two laps to go. In eight starts at the North Carolina track, Elliott has four top-10 finishes, which include three top-five finishes in the last four races at the site. Since 2018 at CMS, Elliott ranks fifth in laps in the top 15 (1,003) and laps led (81), fourth in fastest laps (71) and third in average running position (8.6) and driver rating (106.1). The driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet has been one of the fastest and consistent in recent races this season. Elliott will start 17th and is one of the favorites to win Wednesday’s race at Charlotte.
