Chase Elliott Rounds Out Top 10 At Fontana
3 years agoChase Elliott finished just behind fellow Hendricks driver William Byron Jr. on Saturday. That resulted in qualifying tenth for the Wise Power 400. Elliott and his No. 9 car have fared pretty well at Fontana. He had a sixth in his debut at the Cup level on the track in 2016. In 2020, he finished fourth. The strange thing is Elliott has led just five laps in his five appearances. Many think he could be even faster on this track but that has not led to leading more laps. Expectations are higher this go-around even with the Next-Gen car. Elliott had five fast laps late in the race two years ago. Keep that in mind.
