Chi Chi Gonzalez Surrenders Eight Runs In Lopsided Loss
3 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander Chi Chi Gonzalez was destroyed in Thursday's 11-4 loss to the Miami Marlins. The 29-year-old hurler surrendered eight runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts and one walk across five innings. Gonzalez was making a spot start for the injured Jon Gray and it did not go well, at all. Adam Duvall, Jazz Chisholm, and Starling Marte all unloaded for a trio of home runs in the second inning, accounting for six earned runs. Gonzalez would allow two more runs in the fifth to end his day on the mound. The eight earned runs were a career-high. He did manage to strike out six and only walked one batter but the poor outing raised his ERA to 5.74 to go along with a 1.48 WHIP, and a 31:15 K/BB ratio over 53 1/3 innings (12 appearances, eight starts). He should face the Padres at home in his next start if Gray is unable to go but he's not a fantasy option.
