4 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander Chi Chi Gonzalez took the loss on Tuesday when he surrendered two runs on three hits with one walk and one strikeout over 2 1/3 innings in a 3-2 loss to the Mets. Gonzalez came on in relief of Kyle Freeland, who was making his season debut, in the fifth inning with the game tied at 1-1. He walked Jonathan Villar to start things off but he managed to get through the frame unscathed. He made his big mistake in the sixth inning as allowed a single to Dominic Smith before Tomas Nido smoked a two-run homer to center field. The Rockies were kept off the scoreboard for the rest of the game so Gonzalez took his third loss of the season. He now owns a 4.70 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 24:13 K/BB ratio over 44 innings (10 appearances, seven starts). He'll most likely serve as a swingman between the rotation and the bullpen moving forward, which puts a damper on what little fantasy value he had.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
