7 years agoThe Chicago Cubs checked in with the Baltimore Orioles about a trade to bring shortstop/third baseman Manny Machado to the Windy City. The talks are expected to resume before long. Machado is set to be a free agent at the end of the year. Even if the Cubs do land the young star, they are not guaranteed to keep him once he tests the free-agent market. Shortstop Addison Russell would likely be involved in the deal. Machado has a monster .346 average along with nine home runs and 27 RBI. If he could possibly have more value than he does now, it would be with the Cubs.--Blake Sullivan
