4 years agoChicago White Sox right-handed pitcher Reynaldo Lopez will not be making the club's Opening Day roster after he was optioned to the alternate training site Monday. Lopez is coming off a rough 2020 campaign in which his opponents' 91.1 mph average exit velocity, .511 xSLG and .396 wOBA all ranked among the lowest 10 percent of pitchers in the Majors. During the last full season, Lopez's 110 earned runs allowed was tops in the big leagues. His demotion likely means that Carlos Rodon will begin the year as Chicago's No. 5 starter, with Lucas Giolito, Dallas Keuchel, Lance Lynn and Dylan Cease rounding out the staff. Lopez can be safely dropped to the waiver wire in all keepers formats and avoided in season-long drafts.--Jesse Borek
