Chiefs Open To Trading Alex Smith In The Offseason
7 years agoThe Kansas City Chiefs are open to trading quarterback Alex Smith in the offseason, according to sources, despite him having the top quarterback rating in 2017. The Chiefs will listen to trade offers for Smith, who is set to earn $17 million in 2018. It's mainly because the Chiefs traded up to select quarterback Patrick Mahomes last year, and they have been thrilled so far with everything they've seen from him. If Smith were to be traded, he could fetch the Chiefs at least two second-round picks, and probably more. He could be the top available quarterback if Kirk Cousins stays in Washington, and the Jets, Broncos, Jaguars, Bills, Browns and Cardinals could all be interested. Smith's arm doesn't wow you, but he has gotten it done this year and has been a steady fantasy presence. He's somewhat of a sleeper in playoff DFS games against the Titans in the Wild-Card round, too.
