Chiefs, Orlando Brown Not Close To Long-Term Deal
2 years agoThe Kansas City Chiefs and left tackle Orlando Brown are not close to a long-term deal with under three days left to get one done before the deadline to extend franchise-tagged players. If a deal isn't reached before Friday, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo doesn't expect Brown to attend the start of training camp, and Week 1 isn't a certainty either. Brown wants to be paid at the top of the left-tackle market, but if he doesn't reach an extension with the team, he'll make $16.7 million in 2022 on the franchise tag. The 26-year-old was traded from the Ravens to the Chiefs because he wanted to make the move to left tackle, where he thrived in his first season in KC last year. The three-time Pro Bowler will continue to be a big asset on quarterback Patrick Mahomes' blind side in 2022, with or without an extension.
