Chiefs Were Unwilling To Ship Alex Smith To Denver
7 years agoKansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said that he wouldn't discuss a trade of quarterback Alex Smith with the Denver Broncos. “I think it’s pretty typical in the NFL not to seek trades within the division,’’ Hunt said during his red-carpet appearance prior to the NFL’s Honors show. “That’s pretty standard fare particularly when we’re talking about a high-profile player.’’ The Chiefs ended up trading Smith to the Redskins for a second-round draft pick and cornerback Kendall Fuller. The Broncos are certainly in the market for a quarterback this offseason after Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch failed to get it done. Smith won't be an option for them now, though, so they'll have to look to the draft or the free-agent market for an upgrade.
