4 years agoTampa Bay Rays right-handed pitcher Chris Archer has come out of an intrasquad/sim contest healthy, with manager Kevin Cash impressed by the spin of his slider, speculating that Archer could be back on the mound Friday. A fascinating fantasy asset on the heels of having undergone surgery to relieve thoracic outlet syndrome, Archer's highest level of big league success has come while with Tampa. For all of the strikeout upside that he possesses, Archer is coming back from a potentially debilitating injury and has not delivered an ERA below four over the course of a season since 2015. So long as he comes out of spring healthy, he should have a solid chance at cracking the Opening Day roster in some capacity.--Jesse Borek
