2 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Chris Bassitt is a "long shot" to return to the rotation by this Thursday, according to skipper Buck Showalter. Left-hander David Peterson will start on Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds, with right-hander Trevor Williams in line to toe the rubber on Thursday against the Miami Marlins. Bassitt landed on the COVID-19 injured list over the weekend and hasn't pitched since June 25, so it remains to be seen if he'll need to go out on a minor league rehab start before returning to the Mets rotation. In his first season with the Mets, Bassitt has gone 6-5 with a 4.01 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP while striking out 95 and walking 26 in 89 2/3 innings over 15 starts. He deserves to be stashed in all formats until he returns.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
