Chris Bassitt Spins Seven Strong Frames Versus Texas
3 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Chris Bassitt fired seven innings of shutout ball against the Rangers to earn his ninth win of the season on Wednesday. Bassitt struck out seven as he continued his impressive 2021 season. The 32-year-old righty is 9-2 with a 3.04 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and has 109 strikeouts in 106 2/3 innings, the first time in his career he's been a strikeout-per-inning pitcher. Bassitt's underlying metrics are just as impressive as his surface stats. He's got a career-best 25.2 percent strikeout rate and his 3.25 FIP and 3.87 xFIP are strong numbers as well. He's got a tough matchup in Houston next time out, but Bassitt has established himself as a must-start option in fantasy.
