Chris Bassitt Takes Tough-Luck Loss Saturday
2 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Chris Bassitt allowed two runs over seven innings of work as his club fell to the Padres 2-1 on Saturday. The loss took his record to 7-7 on the season as he struck out 11 on the night while allowing four hits and no walks in the 89-pitch effort. Bassitt retired the first 12 batters he faced in the contest and made just one mistake on the night when Manny Machado took him to left-center for a two-run shot in the sixth inning to open the scoring. The 33-year-old ran his quality start streak to six games with this performance as he sits with a 3.72 ERA and 1.10 WHIP heading into his next start versus the Marlins next weekend.
