Chris Devenski Earns Second Save of 2018 in Win over Mariners
7 years agoWith the Houston Astros up three runs heading into the bottom of the ninth inning on Tuesday, manager A.J. Hinch entered reliever Chris Devenski. Devenski then proceeded to strike out Dee Gordon before inducing a double play from Robinson Cano to earn his second save of the season. The Astros reliever has been on fire this season, pitching to a 1-0 record with a 1.00 ERA and an 11/1 K/BB ratio over nine games. Ken Giles is still considered the closer in Houston, however, if he continues to struggle, Hinch could start going to Devenski more often. If that becomes the case, Devenski would be a premium addition on an Astros team expected to win a lot of games.
