Chris Herrmann Belts Slam In Historic Debut
5 years agoOakland Athletics catcher Chris Herrmann (knee) made his season debut on Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins and he instantly became a fan favorite with one swing of the bat. Herrmann became the first player in franchise history to hit a grand slam in his debut with the organization, with the big homer coming off of Twins RHP Jake Odorizzi. "When you hit a home run, period, let alone a grand slam, it makes you feel like you belong pretty quickly with the team," manager Bob Melvin said. "It was nice to get him off to a good start." Herrmann will be fighting for at-bats behind Josh Phegley, and his fantasy appeal is still limited to deeper AL-only leagues despite the big fly.
