Chris Owings Collects Three Extra-Base Hits But Gets Hurt
4 years agoColorado Rockies right fielder Chris Owings (leg) went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a triple, two RBI and one run scored in an 8-0 win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Owings got the hit party started when he smacked an RBI triple, his second of the season, off Madison Bumgarner in the bottom of the first inning. He picked up an RBI double later in the game as well. He exited the contest after three at-bats due to "leg soreness" and was replaced by Sam Hilliard. It's unclear when Owings hurt his leg or if he'll be out for an extended period of time. The Rockies could have been playing it cautiously, though, as the game was a blowout. Through 14 at-bats, Owings is slashing .500/.563/1.000. He's blocked younger players like Hilliard from getting everyday at-bats, but you can't argue with his numbers in the early going.
