Chris Paddack Battles Back For Quality Start
3 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Chris Paddack earned his seventh win with six frames of three-run ball Tuesday against the Oakland Athletics. The right-hander dug an early hole with a three-run third, but managed to work around nine hits and a walk to survive as the Friars won 7-4. He struck out six. Through 93 innings, the volatile 25-year-old carries a 5.13 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 23 percent strikeout rate. Excluding an eight-run meltdown on July 7, Paddack holds a respectable 3.96 ERA in five starts this month. Despite his struggles at home, Paddack deserves a look as a spot-starter Sunday against the Colorado Rockies.
