Chris Paddack Blanks Mariners Across Six Frames
4 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Chris Paddack was brilliant over six innings Friday against the Seattle Mariners, permitting just three baserunners and zero runs. Paddack struck out only three, but induced 12 groundouts, exiting after 91 pitches to collect his fourth victory. The 24-year-old has taken a step back in 2020, posting poor batted-ball outcomes while holding a 4.23 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. However, his low five percent walk rate and 9.0 K/9 makes him a worthwhile fantasy SP3. Depending on the Friars playoff picture, Paddack is tentatively scheduled to face the San Francisco Giants next Saturday for his final start.
