Chris Paddack Brings Back The Swagger
5 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Chris Paddack fired seven innings of one-run ball in Thursday’s victory against the San Francisco Giants. Paddack has been abysmal since the All Star break but showed his early season-dominance in this one, fanning eight while allowing five knocks and zero walks. The 23-year-old lowers his rookie season line to a 3.69 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 9.3 K/9 in 124 1/3 frames (23 starts). He holds a fantastic 4.8 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The short-term risk for fantasy owners remains a probable innings cap but the Padres appear content to space out his starts rather than shutting him down completely. With his swag back, Paddack will face either the Arizona Diamondbacks or Colorado Rockies next week.
