5 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Chris Paddack pitched six frames of shutout ball to gather his ninth victory on Wednesday against the Chicago Cubs. Paddack fanned seven, surrendering just three hits and a walk. The 23-year-old endured a brief swoon in early-August, but has bounced back impressively, yielding a single earned run over his past three starts. For the year he holds a strong 3.38 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 9.6 K/9. Expected to be shut down by September, the Friars have managed the rookie’s innings by stretching out his rest days. At 135 2/3 innings, he’s way over the 90 frames he completed last year returning from Tommy John surgery. While insiders believe Paddack’s season could be over, queue him up if he makes another start next week.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
