Chris Paddack Loses Victory As Bullpen Collapses
4 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Chris Paddack pitched five frames and surrendered two earned runs in a no-decision Wednesday against the San Francisco Giants. Coming off a stellar Opening Night, Paddack wasn’t sharp, yielding six hits with no walks and striking out six. Lifted with a 6-2 advantage after 89 tosses (58 strikes), Paddack watched helplessly as the bullpen melted down to cost him the victory. Through two starts, the 24-year-old owns a 1.64 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 8.2 K/9. Paddack gets a tough test next week against the division rival Los Angeles Dodgers at home.
