3 years agoSan Diego Padres right-hander Chris Paddack was excellent Friday, throwing 48 pitches in three innings in a minor league game against the Seattle Mariners. He struck out four and walked one while his fastball hit 97 MPH, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune. The 26-year-old is fighting for a rotation spot this spring, along with Nick Martinez, Ryan Weathers, and MacKenzie Gore. Paddack hasn't been the same after his rookie season, including a 5.07 ERA with just a 21.6 K% in 108.1 innings and 22 starts last season. However, he still kept the walks at bay, posting just a 4.8 BB%, leading to a 3.78 FIP. If Paddack wins the fifth starter job, Paddack should be a target later in the draft. If he can get back up to the 23.7 strikeout rate he managed in 2020, he can outproduce his 418 ADP.--Spencer Seguin - RotoBaller
