Chris Paddack Stays Sharp Against D-Backs
6 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Chris Paddack picked up his fourth win Monday, tossing six innings of one-run ball against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Paddack relinquished five hits and zero walks in 89 pitches while striking out seven. The Sheriff remains good as advertised, rocking a 1.93 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 28.5 percent strikeout rate in 51 1/3 frames (nine starts). Paddack has walked one or less in eight outings and holds a spectacular 5.1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Having never surpassed more than 91 innings in the minors and coming back from Tommy John surgery, Paddack could have his innings capped later in the season if the Padres fall out of contention, but he’s currently a bonafide must-start in all formats. He lines up to battle the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday at the Rogers Centre.
