Chris Paddack Thrashed By Red Sox
5 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Chris Paddack was thrashed for six earned runs in just 2 1/3 innings Friday against the Boston Red Sox. Four of the seven hits surrendered went for extra bases and the whiff artist failed to strike out anyone. The flop spikes his season line to a 3.84 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. Recovering from Tommy John surgery in 2017, Paddack threw just 90 innings last season in the minors, but he’s up to 117 1/3 this year. He holds an ugly 6.17 ERA since the All-Star break. Instead of shutting him down, manager Andy Green intends to let Paddack work through the struggles. While his fantasy stock this season is diminishing, Paddack remains one of baseball’s brightest young arms looking ahead.
