Chris Sale Earns First Win
6 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale earned his first win of the season Friday night against his former team, the Chicago White Sox. He finished the night after six shutout innings, striking out 10 and allowing three hits and one walk. It took him 104 pitches to get through the six innings, but it’s a strong step forward for Boston’s ace. He had mainly disappointed up until this performance, which is still evidenced in his 5.25 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and a 26.9 percent strikeout rate. It seemed like it was only a matter of time until he returned to form, however, some of the bad outings were concerning for fantasy owners. One more start like this should confirm that Sale is back. His next outing should come against a weak Baltimore team at Camden Yards.
