6 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale threw a complete game, shutout, after allowing just three hits, while striking out 12 and walking just one in the process of defeating the Royals 8-0 Wednesday. It was Sale's first complete game of the season, and his first complete game shutout since 2016. Kansas City was simply no match for the Boston southpaw, who pumped 73 strikes, including 14 that induced a swing-and-miss. His fastball averaged 93 mph and touched 97, so all early season worries about his velocity can officially be squashed. Sale will carry his 2-7 record. 3.84 ERA, and 110:19 K:BB into a juicy matchup with the Texas Rangers Monday, in which he’s guaranteed to be a top DFS option.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
