Christian Hackenberg May Not Be Done In Green Yet
7 years agoThe New York Jets tried their best to hand their 2017 starting quarterback job to quarterback Christian Hackenberg, but Hackenberg proved last summer he is simply not an NFL quarterback (or backup). He was so bad, in fact, that the team didn’t even give the second-year pro any game action when starter Josh McCown went down for the year. Still, according to general manager Mike Maccagnan, the “book” on Hackenberg “is not closed.” That's typical front-office speak for a failed draft pick if there ever was one. If Hackenberg remains on the Jets roster in 2018, Maccagnan should be fired based off that alone. The former Penn State signal caller will likely be practice-squad fodder somewhere next season.
