Christian Vazquez Hits First Home Run Of The Season Monday
3 years agoBoston Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez went deep for the first time this season during the club's 8-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Monday. He also added a single, two RBI, and two runs in four at-bats. Vazquez needed a solid day at the plate, as the veteran backstop's slashing just .208/.231/.333 with three RBI and three runs scored in seven games. He has yet to walk this season and has gone down on strikes seven times over 26 plate appearances. Vazquez doesn't provide that much fantasy value but shouldn't hurt the batting average and has some speed considering he's a catcher. In 2021, he hit .258 with six home runs, 51 runs, 49 RBI, and eight stolen bases across 138 games. If nothing else, Vazquez gets consistent playing time, appearing in 138 games each of the past two full seasons.
