3 years agoBoston Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez had a solid game Friday against the Philadelphia Phillies, going 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs, and two RBI. The veteran backstop has struggled to live up to expectations this season, slashing just .257/.305/.346 with four home runs in 269 at-bats, and there isn't much to suggest that his production with the bat should improve in the second half of the year. His greatest contribution has been his eight stolen bases, a major bonus from the catcher position and well worth his roster spot if he can continue to be opportunistic going forward.--Doug Goldring - RotoBaller
