Christian Yelich Batting Third On Opening Day
3 years agoMilwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is starting in left field and batting third on Opening Day on Thursday against Chicago Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks. Yelich went 7-for-27 (.259) with two doubles and no home runs in spring training and is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2021 in which he slashed .248/.362/.373 with nine home runs, 51 RBI, 70 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 475 plate appearances over 117 games while dealing with injuries. With better health, Yelich should bounce back, but his health concerns are very real, and the Brewers could give him regular days off throughout the season to keep him fresh.
