CJ Abrams Holding His Own At Double-A

3 years agoSan Diego Padres infield prospect CJ Abrams has lived up to expectations so far at Double-A San Antonio, rocking a 162 wRC+ through 64 plate appearances. The Friars No. 2 prospect (No. 8 overall) has mashed two homers and stolen three bases with a .933 OPS. Abrams annihilated Rookie ball two years ago with a 1.104 OPS, earning a surprise promotion to High-A to end the season. The 2019 first-round pick brims with potential with an 60 scouting grade including a spectacular 80-grade speed. While his native shortstop position is indefinitely occupied by Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr., Abrams has played several infield and outfield positions to test his versatility.
