3 years agoNew York Yankees pitcher Clarke Schmidt has been optioned to the minor leagues on Sunday. This is somewhat surprising considering Schmidt has been solid in his short time being up at the big league level. He has posted a 1.08 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 8/4 K/BB ratio over 8 1/3 innings in the MLB. The assumption is that Schmidt is being sent down, so he can stretch out as a starter. He'll likely return to the Yankees rotation at some point this season.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
