Clarke Schmidt Set For First MLB Start Sunday
4 years agoNew York Yankees right-handed pitcher Clarke Schmidt is in line to make the first start of his big league career Sunday versus Miami. Schmidt, ranked as the club’s No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has appeared twice out of relief this season and allowed three hits, three walks and two runs in 2 ⅓ frames. His first start will also likely serve as an audition for a spot in the club’s playoff rotation, as the nature of the Division Series will force most clubs to utilize at least four starting pitchers. Schmidt figures to have a low DFS price tag, but has loads of upside for those eyeing offense-heavy lineups.
