Clay Holmes Charged With Blown Save Monday
3 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Clay Holmes was charged with his first blown save of the season in Monday's 4-2 win over the Rays. Holmes entered to pitch the eighth inning up by two with one out and a runner on first. He allowed a double, an RBI groundout, an RBI single to tie the game, a walk, and finally got the third out on a strikeout. The fact that Holmes managed to make it into late June without a blown save is a testament to how well we has pitched, as he has 11 saves and a 0.55 ERA over 32 2/3 innings pitched. Holmes will still likely hold fantasy value even when Aroldis Chapman (Achilles) eventually returns.
