3 years agoPittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Clay Holmes has established himself as a go-to reliever for the Bucs and is making fantasy managers take notice. Holmes has pitched 23 1/3 innings this season at a 3.09 ERA, certainly a respectable stat line. However, Holmes' season-long numbers are skewed by a five-run outing back in April. Across his last 19 appearances, Holmes has a 0.86 ERA while producing a negative average launch angle thanks to a dominant sinker. His confidence in his sinker paired with a slider he improved in the offseason have made Holmes a shut down reliever and one who could work his way into some saves down the road.
