Clayton Kershaw Breaks Dodgers Strikeout Record
3 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven over seven innings during Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers. In the third inning, he struck out Dustin Garneau to tie Hall of Famer Don Sutton for the most strikeouts in Dodgers history. The southpaw fanned Spencer Torkelson for his 2,697th strikeout to pass Sutton on the all-time list in the fourth frame. Kershaw is enjoying a solid season, posting a 3-0 record with 2.35 ERA, 0.70 WHIP, and 30 strikeouts over 20 innings in 2022. The 34-year-old's next scheduled start is this weekend on the road against the Chicago Cubs.
