Clint Hurtt Expected To Be Promoted To Defensive Coordinator
3 years agoThe Seattle Seahawks are expected to promote defensive line coach and assistant head coach Clint Hurtt to defensive coordinator soon, according to sources. He will replace Ken Norton Jr., who was fired almost three weeks ago. Seattle may also add Ed Donatell as a defensive assistant and former Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Sean Desai to their defensive staff. Head coach Pete Carroll hopes to incorporate former Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio's system into his own, and Hurtt, Donatell and Desai have worked for Fangio in the past. Fangio's system predominantly features zone defensive looks, and the Seahawks are trying to make over a defense that finished 28th in the league last year in yards allowed (379.1). Hurtt, 43, has been Seattle's defensive line coach since 2017 and is the second-longest-tenured assistant on defense.
