Cody Kessler Replaced By Blake Bortles In Week 16
6 years agoJacksonville Jaguars quarterback Cody Kessler threw for 106 yards on 12-for-17 passing in Sunday's win over the Miami Dolphins. Kessler added two rushing yards as well. Kessler was replaced twice by former starting quarterback Blake Bortles, once when Kessler left with an early injury and once in the fourth quarter when the team decided Bortles gave them the best chance of winning. Bortles ended up going 5-for-6 for 39 yards and added 25 rushing yards on four carries. The Jaguars face an injured Texans secondary in Week 17 that just gave up over 400 passing yards to Nick Foles, but the uncertainty surrounding this starting job and the chance that the starter gets pulled for ineffectiveness makes it impossible to trust the Jaguars quarterback position in the season's final week.
