Cody Reed Unimpressive Against Phillies
7 years agoCincinnati Reds left-hander Cody Reed did not fare well in his first start of the season. The 24-year-old southpaw allowed the Philadelphia Phillies to score five runs (three earned) on four hits, including two homers. Reed struck out four and walked one in the ballgame. The Phillies didn't take long to get to Reed as Rhys Hoskins launched a two-run shot in the first inning and Scott Kingery hit a solo bomb in the second. With Brandon Finnegan reportedly close to returning, Reed's tenure as the Reds' fifth starter could be a short one. Reed made 12 appearances with the Reds in 2017, finishing with a 5.09 ERA.
