Cole Irvin Goes Seven Strong Innings
2 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Cole Irvin picked up the win over the Texas Rangers Friday, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk in seven innings. He struck out eight batters to improve his record to 5-7 on the season. With a 3.08 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 102 1/3 innings, Irvin certainly deserves better than his record, but Oakland simply isn't a good enough team to deliver more wins. Irvin carries much more value in sabermetrically inclined leagues but is worth a look in good matchups in all formats.
