Cole Irvin Lets In Four Runs At Seattle
3 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Cole Irvin allowed four runs in four innings pitched to take the loss Sunday at the Mariners. Irvin allowed five hits and a walk while picking up just three strikeouts. The left-hander wasn't as bad as his final line indicated, as all of the damage came with two outs in the third inning. Irvin is now 7-9 on the season with a 3.62 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP, and has 84 strikeouts across 117 innings. The lack of K's hurts Irvin's fantasy value, but he suppresses homers (0.77 HR/9) and is capable of eating innings as he's gone at least seven frames in three of his last five starts. He's a decent fantasy option in deeper leagues, but he is best left on the bench Saturday versus an Angels lineup that ranks second in baseball with a .337 wOBA versus southpaws.
