3 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Cole Irvin allowed two runs across seven innings with eight strikeouts against the Rangers on Saturday. Unfortunately for Irvin, the bullpen couldn't hold a four-run lead to secure the win, but it was an encouraging outing from the young lefty. Prior to this outing, Irvin had not completed the fifth inning in three-straight starts as he has struggled along with the rest of the freefalling A's ball club. Despite this strong start, Irvin remains a risky fantasy option as his 16.1% strikeout rate is among the lowest in the Majors.
