Cole Kmet Preparing For Bigger Role
2 years agoChicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet's first two seasons in the NFL haven't exactly gone as planned, and his chemistry with quarterback Justin Fields lagged behind that of receiver Darnell Mooney and tight end Jesse James in 2021. But Kmet is preparing for a bigger role heading into his third season with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy installing a wide-zone offense. The offensive approach helped Robert Tonyan in Green Bay and helped make George Kittle a star in San Francisco. And outside of Mooney, the Bears don't have any real proven pass-catchers, so Kmet could take advantage of more chances to make plays down field. But Kmet must show he's an adequate blocker and Fields must also deliver for him to reach his true potential in his third season.
