4 years agoBaltimore Orioles relief pitcher Cole Sulser picked up his first save of the season in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Twins. Sulser entered the game to pitch the ninth inning up by three. He got the first out on a fly out, then allowed a walk and a double, but was able to get a strikeout and another fly out to end the game without allowing any runs to score. The O's had started the season with Cesar Valdez as their closer, but his poor performance lately has taken him out of ninth-inning situations (he pitched the eighth inning in Tuesday's game). As such, it is possible that the O's may start trying some other arms out in save situations, including Sulser. The 31-year-old has pitched very well this season, compiling a 1.74 ERA with a 13.94 K/9 rate. The fact that the O's have not won many games and that they may be moving to a committee does not bode well for figuring out fantasy value, but managers in need of saves should keep an eye on how the O's navigate the later innings in the coming days.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller
