3 years agoPittsburgh Pirates first baseman Colin Moran (hand) is considered day-to-day after exiting Wednesday's game early, according to Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Moran was hit by a pitch on his right pinkie finger and was removed from the game in the fifth inning of Wednesday's contest. Manager Derek Shelton said that X-rays of Moran's hand came back negative and that his finger is structurally sound, and that at this point it's just a matter of pain tolerance before he can rejoin the team. Moran missed nearly a month with a groin strain, but when he's been in the lineup he's put up solid numbers this season, slashing .292/.353/.458 with four home runs, 20 RBI and 10 runs scored over 35 games. Erik Gonzalez got the start at first for Thursday's game, and will figure to continue to get playing time while Moran is out.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
