4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates first/third baseman Colin Moran and shortstop Kevin Newman have both been removed from Sunday’s contest against Milwaukee early due to undisclosed reasons. While the club did not immediately release why they departed, Moran was involved in a collision earlier in the game and Newman appeared to have some discomfort following an at-bat. Jose Osuna and Cole Tucker entered the game in their stead, with Josh Bell, who did not start, remaining on the bench. Moran has been far and away Pittsburgh’s most valued bat this year, having entered play with a 133 OPS+. Newman has scuffled out of the gate, but will likely retain full-time shortstop duties anytime he is healthy. The next chance that either has to get back into the lineup comes Tuesday against the White Sox and right-hander Lucas Giolito.--Jesse Borek
