5 years agoPittsburgh Pirates third baseman Colin Moran ended a two-game hitless streak by launching a three-run home run in the fifth inning to put the team up 3-0 in their 7-2 victory over the Reds on Wednesday. It was his only hit in five at-bats, although he did not strike out once, marking the first time that has occurred in 10 games. Failing to put the ball in play has been an issue for the 26-year-old all season, but particularly over the last 15 games. While Moran has produced a slash line of .302/.302/.453 during this stretch, he has struck out 15 times in his last 53 at-bats for an awful 28.3 strikeout rate. What is just as troubling is that the former first-round draft selection also has not drawn a single walk during this period.--Daniel Benjamin
